Being a photographer in this day and age is certainly quite different than what it used to be in the days of film, especially when we talk about how to store our images. About eight years ago I made the move from Arizona to Maine. Once in Maine, I relocated four times, each time lugging with me boxes full of negatives and slides holding the images I created in my first thirteen years as a photographer. Now the game has changed. Most of us are now shooting digitally almost exclusively and our storage needs have radically changed.
Recently, I had the opportunity to collaborate once more with a client that gave me some insight or behind-the-scenes look if you will, at how some of our data may be stored. We traveled to New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts for this photo shoot. The client specializes in data storage and has facilities where they not only secure data for their clients but also provide disaster recovery rooms. When one of their clients' locations has a catastrophe such as a flood or fire, that client can move their whole team to a location furnished with computers and all they may need to continue working seamlessly.
It was not only interesting checking out our client's super secure facility and seeing how they protect their clients' data, but it was also a pleasure to collaborate once more with them. Hope you enjoy the images. How do you store your valuable data?
